By press release:

Warriors step into the ring or the cage to do battle, some fight internal battles, few fight both and live to tell their story. On that rare occurrence, that story needs to be told.

Jason “Freebird” Freeman is a husband, father, professional athlete and also the grandson of one Charles Manson and this is his life story. The book was penned by Dannon Svab, owner of the Ohio-based Explosive Fight Promotions organization that has promoted many “Caged Madness” events.

“Jason’s story is one of life, survival and dedication, in today’s world many of our role models are distorted….Jason’s story can make a difference in people’s lives.” said Svab.

An introduction to the book:

““Uh yeah, I got a kid somewhere.” Charles Manson said in a 1981 interview on Tomorrow with Tom Snyder. The child he was referring to was Jason Freeman’s natural father, Charles Manson Jr. He later became known as Jay White, but it was more like a cover. Hiding the heinous birthday name his own father tarnished.

Manson was the family’s real surname.

Freeman’s natural father missed Jason growing up. Writing an occasional letter was his only involvement. Never talking face-to-face, Freeman didn’t understand what was going on with his natural father.

Freeman, later would learn more and begin to understand the impact of Charles Manson directing the most horrific Hollywood murders ever. His natural father was unable to withstand the shadow of Charles Manson that ultimately claimed his life. Freeman knew part of that same intense shadow hovered over him, but he decided to fight back.”

I’ve been what-iffing a lot of stuff lately. I’m not gonna waste your precious time and tell you about some of the what-ifs? Such as, what if we could have a retractable dome with a bright yellow light over our yard to combat our not so perfect Northeast Ohio weather?

Back to the point… What if a group of fans, fighters, promoters and simply good-hearted people came together for one evening to raise funds for a battle that probably in some way has affected all of us?

What if several fighters from Nevada, Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania all came together to compete on a Mixed Martial Arts show to help raise funds to fight cancer?

What if the event organizers all worked together to raise funds?

What if businesses donated to the cause?

What if masses of people came out in support?

What if money was raised for a local child cancer victim?

What if on one night everybody came together to, “Fight For The Cure?” Picture it.

Sunday, May 15th at Emidio and Sons in Cuyahoga Falls Caged Madness 20 Cancer Awareness Night in association with Fight For The Cure takes place.

What if you could help?

For more info visit us at Explosivefightpromotions.com and follow us on Twitter @explosivefights!

Emidio and Sons is located at 48 E Bath Rd in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Doors open at 5:00 PM with the first bout scheduled for 6:30 PM.

My lower back and but was starting to ache. I had that late night “blah” type of feeling. All of a sudden, after glancing over at the small green lights on the microwave some dude comes on our television with this crazy idea. Somewhat intrigued, I leaned back in my recliner.

What was the crazy idea you ask?

This guy who’s name isn’t even Tom, but his company’s name is in fact, TOMS SHOES came up with a business model where he gives away a pair of shoes to someone in need every time someone purchases a pair of TOMS SHOES. Weird.

Millions of shoes donated to people in need and millions of dollars later its pretty clear. The TOMS SHOES 1 for 1 business model works. (for every pair bought a pair is given away)

Remember the blog title? First, I was just trying to catch your eye, but secondly I’m thinking about modifying his 1 for 1 model slightly and donating half the profits from our shows to people in need. I just sorta stole his idea! A clean heist. (I hope other promoter’s steal it too!)

I’ve never been accused of being a mathematician, but even I can figure out that’s almost 1000 freaking pounds!

What are fans going to do?

Will we be able to see the ref?

Will the steel cage hold up?

These questions will be answered at Saturday’s Rocktagon MMA Show when 420 pound Dewayne “Cooter” Thompson takes on 350 pound Kenny Zable.

Oh yeah…The total poundage in the blog title was from adding the fighter’s weights, plus the referee’s guessetimated weight. I threw in two pounds, assuming each fighter will have 16 oz water bottles and finally the extra pound is from the two pairs of 4 oz gloves they will be using. (admittedly, I used a calculator)

Tickets for Saturday’s event can be purchased at Pronio’s Sports, or by calling 330-376-6555. Online purchases can be made at www.rocktagonmma.com.

I spent most my time behind the last row, and I loved every minute. For the first time in 33 shows and 3 years, I found myself at an MMA Event with absolutely no responsibilities. It was pretty damn cool.

The Rocktagon MMA Amateur Elite show packed the fans in like sardines. Most of the sardines appeared very happy with the impressive evening of combat sports. The action packed fights continuously, brought the jammed house to their feet.

February 19th, Caged Madness and Rocktagon MMA will join forces at Pronio’s Sports in Akron for an evening of Mixed Martial Arts Entertainment. For tix visit Pronio’s, or call 330-376-6555. Tickets are also available online at www.rocktagonmma.com. (Buy now to get a better seat than I had)

“That was fun!” As I walked towards the dressing room area immediately after Caged Madness 18 I quickly glanced behind me to see who the ecstatic customer was. To my surprise it was an elderly woman.
I replied with a smile, “That’s what we like to hear.” She was 80 yrs young easy. (My apologies to the woman if my guesstimate is slightly off).

The crowd still buzzing from the event filtered out of the Jam packed venue as three new champs accepted congratulations from appreciative fans. I couldn’t help, but think how people just simply have fun at these MMA events. Fighters love fighting on the Caged Madness events and fans always seem to rave about the promotion well after being exposed to what has been called, “a diamond in the rough,” by MMA personalities referring to Caged Madness at Pronio‘s Sports.

Simply put Caged Madness is just flat out fun for everyone involved. Come on out and let us know what you think!
